The Cycling Co. is seeking a qualified mountain bike coach to assist in facilitating kids, youth, and adult mountain bike programs over the summer months at Bear Mountain Resort.
For this seasonal mountain bike coach contract position, the successful candidate will have PMBI or NCCP certification, a flexible schedule and a passion for riding and teaching mountain bike skills to clients of all ages.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Attendance and check-in procedures for all participants.
Be able to provide a waiver speech to participants before lesson/tour begins.
Provide a fun, yet safe and engaging experience.
Fix bikes on the trail if as and when needed.
Our “Must Haves”
Attend Staff Training
Valid First Aid Certification. (OFA Level 1 or Equivalent) – Provide a COPY with your resume.
Valid Instructor/Guide Certification. (PMBI L1 or Equivalent) – Please provide a copy of your certification with your resume.
Be able to comfortably ride blue and black trails.
Be at a reasonable level of fitness and be able to ride 2hrs+ at a time.
Own a current mountain bike in good working condition.
You are punctual, presentable, professional, personable and FUN!
You are able to provide a fun experience to clients of all ages.
You have trailside bike repair knowledge and can repair any of the following while out with clients: a flat tire (replace tube or apply patch), properly tighten bolts, fix a broken chain, adjust shifting, adjust brakes.
Nice to haves:
Knowledge of Southern Vancouver Island mountain bike trail networks including all or some of the following: Bear Mountain Resort, Hartland, Mt. Work, Gowlland Tod Park, Maple Mountain, Mt. Tzouhalem, Mt. Prevost. Bonus for Cumberland trails knowledge.
Unrestricted Class 4 Driver’s license with clean abstract.
PMBI Level 2 Certification – Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Association.
